Platlet Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP)

Platlet Rich Plasma Therapy
Platelets are one of four primary components of blood (the other three are red blood cells, white blood cells, and plasma). Platelets promote cell growth and regeneration. As the term “platelet-rich plasma” suggests, platelets are more concentrated in PRP than in regular blood.
Using your own concentrated, nutrient-rich platelets, PRP treatments dramatically boost your natural collagen production to help stimulate a youthful glow – improving skin tone, texture, fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation and dark circles.
When it comes to hair loss, the theory is that platelets which include a high concentration of growth factors, injected deep into the scalp to reach the bottom of the hair follicle, may stimulate a specialized population of cells named dermal papilla cells, which play a critical role in hair growth.
Usually three to six treatments at four to six weekly intervals is recommended to achieve the desired results.

Pre treatment preparation (7 Days prior)

  • Avoid blood-thinning medications such as Aspirin and supplements that are known to increase bruising such as garlic, ginkgo, ginseng, green tea extract, vitamin E and fish oils.
  • Do not use skincare containing vitamin A, retinol or glycolic acid.
  • Do not have skin treatments 2 weeks prior to the PRP for skin rejuvenation.

Note: Bruising and swelling is expected for up to 2 weeks. Every patient responds differently to the treatment.

What areas can be treated?

More than just a facial, Vampire Facials can be used to treat the face, neck, and décolletage as well as any other areas of the body that may suffer from the conditions mentioned above. PRP therapy can also be used to stimulate under-developed and under-active hair follicles to encourage hair growth.

What should I expect during the treatment?
A topical anaesthetic cream will be applied to the area to ensure minimal discomfort during the procedure. PRP therapy begins by first drawing the patient’s own blood into a specially prepared test tube, while adhering to strict universal standards involving blood handling. The blood is then spun down in the Angel centrifuge to separate out the precious platelets. One of our highly skilled injectors then injects the platelets into the area of concern. There, the activated platelets release growth factors, which facilitate cell growth, the formation of blood capillaries and, most importantly, the building of new collagen.
The process of injecting will take approximately 30 minutes, depending on the size of the area.
